CONTACT: Galen Davis, Board President Crime Stoppers of Wichita/ Sedgwick County
Crime Stoppers of Wichita and Sedgwick County today rolled out its new website, according to Board Chairman Galen Davis. The new site features more resources and added important information, he said. The address of the new website is www.wsccs.com.
“In addition to featuring the Crime of the Week, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office Felon of the Day and Wichita Police Department’s Most Wanted list, the new site allows visitors to see WPD’s latest crime report and crime map,” said Davis. “There’s also a ‘Quick Response’ code on the home page that allows visitors to use their smart phone’s camera to scan the QR field which then automatically adds the Crime Stoppers tip line number to their phone’s address book.” The QR scan application is available for free download on most smart phones.
Davis also said there are links on the homepage to follow Crime Stoppers on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. “Social media is an important tool in helping law enforcement solve crime,” said Davis.
Visitors to the new site will find clear, easy‐to‐understand information about the three ways to submit tips to Crime Stoppers. Tips can be submitted by calling 316‐267‐2111; online tips can be submitted at www.wsccs.com; and tips can be sent via cell phone by texting TIP217 followed by the tip to CRIMES (274637). All tips are completely anonymous and could earn the tipster a reward of up to $1,000 if the tip results in an arrest.
The new site was developed by Pen Publishing Interactive, a Wichita‐based web hosting and web development company.
