They took a large amount of electronics and jewelry, including a 42-inch flat screen TV, computer equipment and cameras. Also taken was cash and a safe.

Shortly after midnight on Thursday, Dec. 8, a resident answered a knock at his front door in 2500 block of 31st Street South. He was confronted by a man with a knife and forced back into the house. The suspect bound the victim, and then robbed him of his cash and credit cards. The suspect is an Asian man, mid-30s, about 5-foot-6, with a medium build. He was wearing blue jeans and a black sweater, and had a black mask over his face.

Sometime between Friday, December 7 at 5 p.m. and Saturday, December 8 at 2 p.m. burglars forced their way into a detached garage in the 300 block of Wind Rows Lake Dr. They gained access through a window and took a large collection of Snap On hand tools and the 5x3x4, blue, roll-away Snap On tool chest they were in. Also taken was a large flat screen television, and a large variety of power tools that include a chop saw and a welder. Total loss is valued at more than $40,000.00.

About noon on Tuesday, Nov. 27, an 88-year-old woman was approached from behind in the Dollar General parking lot at 1919 E. Pawnee. A thief grabbed her purse and knocked her to the ground. She was taken to a hospital and treated for hip, shoulder and facial injuries.

On Monday, Nov. 5, thieves burglarized two residences in the Reflection Ridge housing edition. The burglaries took place between 6:30 and 9 p.m., and are believed to be related. The suspects forced open a rear door and took jewelry, electronics and other items valued at more than $35,000.

Jennifer Wilson 1997Crime Stoppers and the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s help to solve several cold cases. Today we are seeking information on a missing person that is a potential victim of a homicide. In March of 2001, Jennifer Wilson was 27 years old and lived with her roommate in the area of 143rd ST. E. and 63rd ST. S. Wilson and her roommate were involved in an argument at the residence and the roommate left. When the roommate returned Wilson was gone. Wilson left her car, all her belongings, and her dog, which she was known to take everywhere. 

At the time of her disappearance Jennifer Wilson was 5’07, weighed 115 pounds, with brown curly hair and blue eyes. Today Wilson would be 39 years old.

Sometime 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, someone forced entry through the garage door into a residence in the 5500 block of North Hillside. The burglar took custom rifles, sporting guns, cameras and lenses, and a large amount of jewelry. Loss is estimated at more than $36,000, plus $800 in damage.

Sometime between 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, and 1 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, an unknown person broke into a gated area in the 6100 block of West 55th St South. Two spools of copper wire weighing 1,000 pounds were rolled out of the enclosure. Loss is valued at more than $8.000.

On Wednesday, Oct. 31, two men entered the Stop and Shop at 1827 W. 13th. A third man waited in the truck he had backed up to the business. One of the men showed a badge hanging on a chain from his neck. It resembled a Wichita Police Department badge, and he identified himself as a police officer. He told the employee that they were there to seize the arcade games at the rear of the store because they were illegal. The employee challenged the suspects on their claim to be police officers. The employee called 911 as the suspects loaded the truck. The suspects successfully loaded two of the games and drove off. Loss is valued at over $10,000.

The suspect wearing the badge is a white male, 5-foot-10, 190 pounds with brown hair. He was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans. The other suspect also was a white male of average height and build. He was wearing a brown plaid shirt and blue jeans. The person driving the truck wasn't seen.

Sometime between Friday, October 12 at 6 pm and Saturday October 13 at
6 pm, an unknown person(s) trespassed onto the Westurban Baseball fields at 6900 W. 13th. The suspects cut the copper lines from two air conditioning units at the snack bar, vandalized a score board, and 7 wooden light poles. Loss and damages are valued at more than $2,000.00.

RIME STOPPERS CASE No. 1243
Sometime between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, one or more suspects forced open a door to a residence in the 500 block of North Sandalwood. Once inside they took multiple antiques, coins, electronics and personal papers. Loss is valued at more than $3,000 and damage at $500.

Sheriff’s detectives on the case obtained a photo of a white female using a forged check that was taken in the burglary. It is not known if she was part of the actual burglary. They need help identifying her.

At 8:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, two men wearing black hoodies and white scarves covering their faces entered the Dollar General at 1624 E. Central. One man pointed a silver handgun at the clerk and demanded money from the register. The two fled the scene in a white, mid '90s, Ford Crown Victoria with black rims.

The suspect pointing his gun at the clerk is a black male, mid 20s, 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds. He was wearing black sweats and white shoes with a black tip. The other suspect also is a black male, mid 20s, 6 feet tall and medium build. He was wearing burgundy sweats and black shoes with white shoe laces , and also showed a silver handgun.

Just after 4 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, two men knocked on the front door of a house in the 2100 block of E. 51st St. S. When the homeowner answered the door, the two forced their way inside. While one suspect pointed a black, black semi-automatic handgun at the victims, the other man took electronics, a safe and other miscellaneous items from the house. The victims were not harmed.

The suspect holding the gun is a white male, mid 20s, 5-foot-7, 150 pounds, with a scruffy beard. He was wearing a grey hoodie with a vertical logo on the left and blue jeans. The second man also is white, of unknown age, 6 foot tall and 140 pounds.

Just after midnight on Monday, Sept. 10, two men wearing masks broke a glass door to enter Popeye’s at 1350 N. Hillside. They went into the office, pointed a silver handgun at the employee and demanded the store's cash. They also robbed the employee of his money.

One suspect is a black male, 30, with a medium height and build. The race of the other suspect is unknown. He, too, is of average height and build.

At approximately 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, a woman was loading her vehicle getting ready to leave Sedgwick County Park at 6501 W. 21st,. A man grabbed her by the wrist and pushed her into the car. He took her purse, stroller and diaper bag.

The suspect is a biracial black and Hispanic male, mid 20s, 5-foot-10 and a medium build. He was wearing a white T-shirt with black pants, and was last seen running from the scene.

RIME STOPPERS CASE No. 1238
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, deputies took a theft report in the 9900 block of South Meridian. An unknown person entered the property sometime between 7:30 and 10:30 a.m. and took a white 2007 Dodge Ram 350 quad cab with an attached 2005 CM horse trailer. The truck had a vanity plate on the front that said, “Rodeo America’s #1 Sport” in red letters with a white background. Also taken was a black flatbed single axle welding trailer with a Lincoln Welder, oxygen and acetylene tanks, and miscellaneous tools on it. The horse trailer was located by deputies a few miles from the scene and returned. Loss is valued at more than $48,000.

Witnesses in the area saw a black, 2000s model, extended cab Chevy truck pulling in the drive during the time frame of the theft.

About 11 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, a man was preparing to tow a car with his personal truck in the 1900 block of North Arkansas. He had just attached the tow cable and was standing between the two vehicles when a silver minivan traveling east on 18th Street made a left turn onto Arkansas. The minivan struck the rear of the vehicle being towed, pushing it into the victim's truck and pinning him between the two vehicles. The driver of the minivan backed up and continued north on Arkansas and was last seen turning east onto 19th Street. The victim suffered a partial amputation of his leg. He was transported to the hospital in serious condition where the fight to save his leg continues.

The minivan is a late '90s to early 2000 Chrysler or Dodge. It will have damage to the front bumper, grill, radiator and possibly the hood. The right front bumper may have more damage than the left.

RIME STOPPERS CASE No. 1236
At approximately 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, a man entered Bank of the West at 255 N. Main. He approached an employee and demanded: “Give me all the money!” The employee complied. He put the cash in a green bag and was last seen on foot heading south on Main Street. There were no injuries.BankoftheWest1.jpg

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 35 years of age, 5-foot-11 and medium build. He had a black bandanna over his face and was wearing wire frame sunglasses, black pants, a black jacket with unknown white logo on front left, and a black ball cap on backwards with an unknown white logo on it. No weapons were seen.

The Wichita Fire Department is seeking help to find the suspects in an arson at the former Joyland Amusement Park, 2801 S. Hillside. Just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, crews were dispatched for a fire in one of the maintenance buildings. They were able to get it under control, but the building was destroyed. Loss was estimated at more than $15,000.

Witnesses saw three males in their late teens leaving the area on bicycles shortly before the fire was reported.

At 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, two men approached a woman in the 2000 block of North Amidon. One of the men pointed a silver handgun at her and told her to hand over her property. The suspects took her purse and ran south on Amidon. The victim was not injured.

The suspect carrying the handgun is a black male, mid 20s, 6 feet tall and 170 pounds. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and a red baseball cap.

The other suspect is a bi-racial male, mid 20s, 5-foot-8, 180 pounds with short brown hair. He was wearing a blue and gray T-shirt and blue jeans.

At 3:46 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, the Target store at 301 S. Towne East Mall Dr. was burglarized. Two subjects wearing masks and gloves broke into the store by smashing the glass in the two sets of front doors. They smashed the glass on a display case containing iPads. They fled out the front door with 16 iPads they had loaded into a bag, and headed southwest. Loss is valued at more than $7,600.

Sometime between 10 p.m. Friday, July 20, and 8 a.m. Saturday, July 21, an unknown person trespassed on private property in the 8600 block of E. 63rd St. S. The suspect vandalized a swimming pool by removing the automatic cover from its track and turning on the motor. Both cover and motor were destroyed. Loss is valued at more than $6,000.

Shortly before 1 P.M. on Friday, July 20, two white males forced their way into a residence in the 4500 block of east Huckleberry Circle near Derby. The burglars took items that included a 55’ television, DVD player, a digital camera, a tablet, a surround sound system, power tools, and miscellaneous jewelry. Loss is valued at more than $6000.00.

The suspects were both white males approximately 30 years of age. Both of average height, one had a skinny build, while the second was heavyset. They were seen loading items into a white truck and leaving the area.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, a man forced his way into the Family Dollar store at 355 W. 21st. He took miscellaneous clothing, videos, electronic accessories and food. Loss is valued at more than $1,000.
The suspect is a white male, mid 30s and balding. He was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans.

Sometime between 4:45 and 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, unknown persons entered a carport in the 13900 block of West 93rd St. N. They took a teal-colored 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan and a white 1999 GMC Sierra. In one truck bed there was an air compressor, a John Deere generator, miscellaneous Craftsman tools and irrigation parts. A Hobart portable generator/welder was taken from a nearby shed. Loss is valued at more than $14,000.

On that same morning neighbors saw a red Ford truck with Arkansas plates, occupied by seven Hispanic males, driving around in the area. A neighbor stopped to talk to them; they said they were looking for a house for a roofing job.

Just after 8 p.m. Monday, June 18, a man walked into the Long John Silver's at 2090 W. 21st. He was carrying a hand gun and demanded money. No one was injured. He took an unknown amount of cash and left in a blue vehicle.

The suspect is a white male, approximately 6-foot-2 with a slim build and a beard. He was wearing dark colored shorts, a white tank top, tennis shoes and a tan ball cap.

RIME STOPPERS CASE No. 1227
Sometime 5:00 A.M. and 6:00 A.M. on the morning of Friday, June 16, someone broke into a self-storage facility in the 1700 block of N. Rock Rd. The thieves broke through the gate and stole a number of items from the facility including fishing tackle, a Ranger boat cover, and an air compressor. The fishing tackle alone included 50 tackle boxes and numerous rods and reels valued at approximately $16,000.00.

The suspect(s) were driving a light colored, older make, truck with a dark colored passenger door and pulling a trailer.

Sometime between the evening of Thursday, May 31, and 6:45 a.m. Friday, June 1, an unknown person(s) gained entry into Midwest Bulk Inc. at 3404 N. Emporia. The suspect(s) took miscellaneous electronics, generators, power tools and cash. Total loss is valued at more than $33,000.

On Thursday, May 31, a man entered Fidelity Bank at 7711 E. Harry. He gave the teller a note indicating he was robbing the bank, and showed a handgun sticking out of his waistband. He left with cash, and was last seen heading southwest from the bank.

He is described as a white male in his late 20s to early 30s; 5-foot-10 to 6 feet tall; 160 to 180 pounds; clean shaven; and wearing glasses, black athletic shorts, a black jacket with white stripes down the sleeves, and a black ball cap on backwards.

Just after 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, a man was shot in the back while sitting inside his home in the 1900 block of east Marion Road. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but is expected to survive his injuries. Police believe the suspect walked up to the residence, fired one shot from a high-powered rifle though a glass window and accidentally fired a second shot while running from the scene. Neighbors reported seeing a dark-colored SUV in the area at the time of the shooting.

At approximately 2 p.m. on Monday, May 28, an unknown man walked into Friendly Oil Field Products at 5421 E. Kellogg. He approached the employee from behind and told her, “Don’t turn around or you're dead.” He took the employee to the back of the store, tied her up and took a large amount of silver collectible spoons and miscellaneous collectible coins. Loss is valued at more than $4,500 dollars.

On Monday, October 31st, 2011 a fire broke out at the Islamic Association of Mid-Kansas, located at 3406 W. Taft. After analysis of evidence collected by the Wichita Fire Department the fire has been ruled an arson and the cause of the fire officially determined as incendiary. Crime Stoppers and the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s help to solve several cold cases. Today we are seeking information on a missing person that is a potential victim of a homicide. In March of 2001, Jennifer Wilson was 27 years old and lived with her roommate in the area of 143rd ST. E. and 63rd ST. S. Wilson and her roommate were involved in an argument at the residence and the roommate left. When the roommate returned Wilson was gone. Wilson left her car, all her belongings, and her dog, which she was known to take everywhere. At the time of her disappearance Jennifer Wilson was 5’07, weighed 115 pounds, with brown curly hair and blue eyes. Today Wilson would be 39 years old.

At approximately 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 6, two women were jogging along the Arkansas River in the 700 block of North Amidon in Sim Park. A man jumped out from behind some bushes and grabbed one of the joggers by her shirt. She was able to get loose and call 911 on her cell phone while they were running away. Police received a second call a short time later from another jogger. This woman said she was running in the same area at about the same time when a man jumped out of the bushes and grabbed her by the wrist. This jogger also got away and ran home and called called 911. 

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20s. He is about 6 feet tall with short, brown curly hair. He had a large earring in his left ear and was wearing a blue and white collared shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.

Once inside the suspect(s) took two laptop computers; two jewelry boxes containing miscellaneous rings and necklaces; more than 50 collectable knives with the display cases; and approximately 20 handguns, shotguns and rifles. Loss is valued at more than $12,000.

The suspect(s) took a 2008 John Deere Gator,  a gray 5 ft. by 8ft. single axle trailer, a Suzuki RMF black and yellow dirt bike, one air compressor, 5 chainsaws,  a pole saw, 5 weed eaters, and a toolbox of miscellaneous hand tools. At approximately 8:50 p.m. on Friday, April 13, Cheryl Keith was walking near the intersection of Eighth Street and Grove. She was struck and fatally injured by a vehicle traveling northbound on Grove. The driver fled the scene. The vehicle involved is possibly white and may have damage to the front end, the right side area and possibly the windshield.

Sometime between 7 p.m. Saturday, March 24, and 10 a.m. Sunday, March 25, an unknown person(s) broke into the concession stand at Hap McLean Park, 6801 N. Hydraulic, in Park City. The suspect(s) also broke into an announcer’s booth at the baseball field and emptied a fire extinguisher. Next, the vandal(s) damaged a backhoe and a building at the BMX track. The total damaged is estimated at $7,000.

Just after 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29, two men entered Rock Road Tobacco at 100 N. Rock Road. Armed with a shotgun, they demanded cash from the clerk. The clerk briefly struggled with one suspect as the other man took cash and miscellaneous tobacco products. They were last seen running north on Rock Road. The gun was recovered about a block away.

The suspects were described as two white males in their 20s. One is about 5-foot-10 and weighs about 180 pounds. The other is about 6 feet tall, weighing between 230 and 260 pounds. Both wore dark clothing, dark ball caps and bandannas.

Shortly before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, a man and woman were seen loitering in front of an entrance to Dillard’s at Towne East Square. The man entered the store alone at 12:45 p.m. and was seen in front of a counter where two diamond rings were laying. Two minutes after he left, the woman approached the counter and took the rings. The couple is seen on tape walking into the mall shortly afterwards. One ring is white gold with diamonds; the other is yellow gold with diamonds. They are valued at more than $5,000.

In the past months the Wichita Police Department has been investigating a growing amount of burglaries occurring on the outskirts of town in west, southeast, and northeast Wichita. The burglar(s) are targeting residences in the evening hours between 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Entry is usually made through a back garage door or a patio door. The suspects target the master bedroom taking jewelry and forcing open safes if located. In this particular burglary the garage door was pried open. The suspect(s) stole jewelry, specifically a gold pin shaped like a rose, a large amount of gold Kruggerand coins, and other U.S. coin sets.

Sometime between Wednesday, Feb. 29, and Thursday, March 1, Apex Engineering at 1804 W. Second was burglarized. The burglar(s) forced entry through the rear door. They took generators and compressors with accessories; toolboxes containing a large amount of hand tools, several drills and other miscellaneous tools; and a 1999 white Dodge Ram truck. The truck was later recovered in southwest Wichita. Loss was valued at more than $40,000.

The Wichita Police Department is looking for the persons responsible for at least 14 vandalisms that occurred between Dec. 18, 2011, and Feb. 7, 2012. Multiple residences and businesses between Central to Maple and Seneca to Meridian have been vandalized by graffiti. They are believed to be the work of the same suspects. The vandals hit several residences, multiple businesses and Mayberry Elementary School. Damage is estimated at more than $4,000.

CAPTURED

On Sunday, February 25th shortly after 10 p.m. Sean McKenzie who was incarcerated in the Sedgwick County Detention Facility was working as a trustee. Three trustees and three deputies were taking out the trash, when McKenzie made a run for it. Two deputies chased McKenzie, but he was able to get away. McKenzie was under arrest for theft, burglary and drug charges.

Sean P. McKenzie is 33 years old, 5’11, 175 pounds, brown hair (usually shaved), blue eyes, tattoos symbols for the Alpha and Omega on the rear of his calves, the English Lion on his right bicep, a large cross with circle on the left bicep, the words “never, never, never give up” across his upper chest, and last seen wearing a tan jumpsuit.

On Feb. 20, 2012, a Sheriff’s Deputy located six headstones in a roadway ditch at 5200 W. 87th St. South. The headstones are very old, ranging from 1867 to 1907. Investigators have confirmed that the headstones were stolen from Highland Cemetery at 1000 N. Hillside. Damage is estimated at more than $5,000.

Rock Rd., Thoung Phan got into an argument in the parking lot with three Asian males. They chased him across Rock Road onto Blues Stem, shooting him multiple times. He died at the scene. The suspects fled in an unknown four-door vehicle.

At 6:15 a.m. on Monday, Jan.16, a woman walked into a business in the 900 block of North St. Francis. As she entered, a man loitering in the area approached her from behind. He grabbed her purse and took it, using physical force. The robber also displayed a knife to her.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 40s, 6-foot-3, with a stocky or muscular build. He was wearing dark pants, a dark-colored jacket and a dark stocking cap.

Sometime between 5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, and 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, an unknown person or persons forced their way into the Honey Tree Academy at 2548 N. Maize Rd. The suspects vandalized the school and stole laptops, iPads and other electronics valued at more than $7,000. A Chrysler Town and Country minivan with the Honey Tree Academy logo on the side also was taken; it was recovered late Monday evening near Andover by the Wichita Police Department.

RIME STOPPERS CASE No. 1205

129124.png  The Wichita Police Department needs your help to catch three men who robbed five Wichita businesses between Oct.. 14 and Nov. 7, 2011. The Golden Corral at 616 Southridge Circle was robbed at closing time. The suspects, wearing white masks and latex gloves, forced the employees back into the office. The loss was money and cell phones. Food Mart, 1400 N. Market; Downtown Wireless, 1617 E. Central; Family Video,1759 S. Hillside; and Credit Union of America, 5055 S. Broadway, were robbed by the same suspects, but these victims hands and feet were secured with duct tape. The suspects also got more violent, striking several of the victims and a customer. Loss in these robberies was cash, cell phones and cigarettes.

The suspects are black males of average height and build. They all wore dark clothing and carried handguns. The vehicle used in the robberies was possibly a maroon-colored SUV.

Timothy McGuigan was suppose to have breakfast with his son that morning, but never arrived; he didn't show up for work either. Worried co-workers called his son and asked him to check on his father. The son went to his father's house in the 2500 block of North Woodridge and found him dead. When police arrived they discovered that McGuigan had been shot multiple times with a small caliber handgun. There was no sign of forced entry, and robbery does not appear to be the motive.

RIME STOPPERS CASE No. 1203

 The Park City Police Department is investigating the theft of approximately 32 titanium blocks, each weighing 500 pounds, from TECT Aerospace at 5545 N. Mill Heights Dr. The theft occurred during the first couple of weeks of December 2011. The suspect(s) would have needed a forklift and a heavy-duty truck to remove the blocks. The loss totaled more than $100,000.

RIME STOPPERS CASE No. 1202
On Tuesday, Dec. 12, the Presto convenience store at 4414 W. Maple was robbed by a man with a knife. The next day, Wednesday, the same suspect robbed the Presto convenience store at 7136 W. Central. Cash was taken from the register at both locations.

The suspect is described as a light skinned black male, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-8 with a large build. He was wearing a black and blue hoodie and had a black and blue bandanna over his face. No suspect vehicle was seen.
