About 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, an employee of the Convenience Mart at 2199 N. Woodlawn was cleaning near the gas pumps. Suddenly a man who was hiding behind a wall put a knife to his throat and forced him back into the store. The robber took money from the register and ran off. The employee wasn't injured.

The suspect is a black male, 6 foot and 200 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie, black gloves and black sweatpants, and had covered his face with a white cloth.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating multiple cases of mail theft that include the victims having multiple fraudulent credit cards used in their names totaling several thousand dollars. The suspects have been caught on camera using the stolen credit cards at multiple locations.
Suspect one is a white female, younger, average build, blonde hair, glasses, wearing blue jeans and a pink jacket. Suspect two is a white female, stocky build, brown hair, wearing blue jeans and a blue sweatshirt. They were seen leaving in a white four door Chevrolet.

Just after 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, the Wichita Police Department responded to a drive-by shooting at 5102 E. Kensington. When officers arrived they found seven people inside the house. It had been hit by multiple bullets, but there were no injuries, no witnesses and no description of the suspect or the vehicle involved.
WPD is asking for help from anyone who may have witnessed this or has any information about this incident.

At 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, officers were dispatched to a burglary call at River House Traders, 1401 N. Perry. The burglar broke a front glass door to gain entry. The business owner determined that more than 40 items were taken, including rare comic books and collectibles. Loss was estimated at more than $300,000. Video surveillance showed an unknown person in a dark colored vehicle arrived at the business at 5:29 a.m. and made several trips from the store to the vehicle. The suspect left driving east on 13th Street.

Just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, a man entered the Harry Grocery and Smoke Shop at 324 W. Harry. He told the clerk that he was robbing him, while hitting the cash register in an attempt to open it. When it wouldn't open he reached into his waistband. The clerk thought he had a weapon and opened the register. The robber ran out of the store with an unknown amount of money. He is described as a black man wearing dark clothing and a hoodie.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office has seen an increase in burglaries in southeast Sedgwick County. Between 11/8/14 and 11/18/14 there were at least three burglaries that may be connected. Thieves forced their way into a residence in the 11000 block of east Kinkaid and in the 9500 block of east 79th St. S. A third burglary in the 4900 block of South Oliver was interrupted. Two men managed to escape, leaving behind a stolen car. The only description was the men were wearing dark clothing. Loss in the three burglaries was approximately $6,000.

With the holidays approaching, the Sheriff’s Office is reminding citizens to stay diligent, be aware and report anything suspicious to 911.

On Friday, October 31, at 6 p.m. a white male entered the Intrust Bank branch inside the Dillons at 13th and West Street. The suspect approached the counter and told the clerk it was a robbery and to give him all the money. The clerk gave him an undisclosed amount of cash from the drawer. The suspect left in an unknown direction.
The robber was a white male, mid-30’s, 600, 230 lbs, wearing an Oregon Ducks hat and a black long sleeve Russell Athletics shirt. No vehicle seen.

On Tuesday, Oct. 28, the Wichita Fire Department responded to a call at Hupp True Value Hardware, 728 E. Harry. A pallet of hay outside the store's main entrance had been set on fire. It was recorded on video. Damage to the building was estimated at about $7,000.
The arson suspect is a younger white man with a thin build and average height. He was wearing jeans and a long-sleeve shirt and wore his cap backwards.

Jeremy Napier, 43, had been struck and killed by a vehicle which fled the scene. Sheriff detectives are asking for the community’s help. When residents in the area of 5400 W. Zoo Blvd. lost electrical service on Wednesday, Oct. 15, it was discovered that power lines had been stripped of the copper wire. Approximately 600 feet was taken. Workers temporarily replaced the wire in order to restore service. Two days later, when they returned to permanently replace the wire, they discovered that four of the 25-foot utility poles had been cut down and another 400 feet of copper wire was taken, plus one of the poles. Loss is valued at more than $10,000, with damages of $2,000.

Sometime between 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, and 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, a storage building belonging to the Waco Township at 5557 W. 55th St. S. was burglarized. Suspects cut a hole in the back of the building and took an air compressor, diesel heater, pressure washer, torch set and miscellaneous hand tools. A CAT road grater was damaged. A Ford Ranger was taken, but it was later abandoned and recovered by deputies. Damage and loss totaled almost $9,000.

Just before 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, a woman was riding her bicycle east on 13th Street near Custer. A black truck, also heading east on 13th, struck her from behind and continued driving. He possibly turned south on St. Paul. The victim suffered multiple broken bones including ribs and her pelvis.

The hit-and-run suspect is a white man who was driving an older model truck with a box-style cab that is matte or primer black.

Shortly after 3 a.m. on July 14, 2013, police were called to a shooting in the 800 block of east 11th. When they arrived they found James Gary suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken by ambulance to Wesley Medical Center where he later died. Two men and two women also were shot. They survived, but one of the victims is now a quadriplegic.

The suspect was described as a black man wearing red clothing and gold eye glasses.

Two men broke into the back entrance of Alex’s Tire Service, 7421 S. Broadway, sometime between Saturday night, Sept. 6, and Sunday morning, Sept. 7. They made multiple trips, taking a large number of steel rims valued around $3,000.

 Suspect one is white, of average height with a large build. He was wearing a ball cap, jeans and T-shirt. Suspect two also is white, of average height with a large build. He has a beard and long hair. He was wearing a dark ball cap, sleeveless T-shirt and jeans with an oversized belt buckle.

Sometime in the early morning on Thursday, Aug. 28, a man broke into a car at the Maple Village Community, 17000 W. Maple. He took a purse containing miscellaneous items including bank cards and an iPad. The burglar was later captured on video using the debit card at Casey’s General Store, 11931 W. Central.

He is white, 6 feet tall with a medium build and short dark hair. He was wearing white tennis shoes, black shorts, a black Chicago Bulls jersey and was possibly driving a dark color Honda.

The robber is a white male, mid-30s, 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing green overalls, a black bandanna and a black ball cap.

They took a 2007 Chevy truck with a tandem-axle trailer with “City of Wichita” markings; a Bobcat utility vehicle; a Stihl edger and power pruner; three Stihl chainsaws; four Stihl back-pack leaf blowers; seven Stihl weed eaters; and a red Craftsman toolbox with miscellaneous tools. Loss is valued at more than $100,000.

Just after 1 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, a taxi was dispatched to pick up a fare at 1701 N. Market. When the driver couldn't locate the address he parked at 16th and Market. He dialed a fake number and then grabbed a ceramic vase off the desk and hit the employee multiple times while demanding money. After he got a small amount of cash the robber ran away. The employee was treated for multiple lacerations.

The suspect is black with short black hair, about 6 feet tall, a medium build and weighs about 180 pounds. He was wearing orange shorts and a black shirt.

Detectives are asking for the public to help identify the suspects. Suspect 1 is a tall, bald white man of average build. Suspect 2 is a white woman of average height with a medium build and blonde hair. They suspect their vehicle is a white SUV.

Just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, the Dollar General at 1919 E. Pawnee was robbed. Two men entered the store, and one pointed a handgun at the employee. They forced him to the back of the store where the office is located. When they couldn't get into the office they grabbed miscellaneous items and damaged the cash register when they tried to get into it. They ran east from the store; the employee wasn't injured.

Suspect one is a black man, mid 20s, 6-foot- 2 and weighing about 160 pounds. He was wearing white shorts with a white and dark striped T-shirt, dark shoes, and a red hat with a sticker on it. Suspect two is a dark-skinned black man, mid-20s, 5-foot-10 and about 150 pounds. He was wearing a gray T-shirt, black shorts, long black socks and white shoes. He had a gray shirt over his face and was carrying the black handgun.

The last week of May two music stores were burglarized. Just before 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, the front window at Jim Starkey Music, 1318 W. 18th, was broken and 12 violins, a half cello and four violin bows were taken. Loss is $4,500.

About 5:30 a.m. a week later, on Saturday, May 31, Wichita Band Instrument Co. at 2525 E. Douglas also was burglarized. The window also was broken and six saxophones valued at $21,500 were taken.

It’s not known if the burglaries are related or coincidence, but the combined loss was $26,000.

Today we are seeking information on a missing person that is a potential victim of a homicide. In March of 2001, Jennifer Wilson was 27 years old and lived with her roommate in the area of 143rd St. E. and 63rd St. S. Wilson and her roommate had an argument, and the roommate left. When she returned Wilson was gone. Wilson left her car, all her belongings and her dog, which she was known to take everywhere. At the time of her disappearance she was 5-foot-7, weighed 115 pounds, and had brown curly hair and blue eyes. Today Wilson would be 41 years old.

Suspect one is a thin black man, about 6 feet tall. He was wearing a dark hoodie, a clown mask and gloves, and was carrying the rifle. Suspect two also is a thin black man, about 5-foot-8 and wearing a dark ball cap, a dark bandanna over his face and light colored gloves. They left in a red four-door car, possibly Dodge Stratus or Intrepid. it has hood damage around the front passenger side headlight.

Just after 1:45 p.m. Saturday, April 26, a 6-year-old boy ran around the back of an SUV, parked by the curb in the 6200 block of East Eilert, and into the street. A vehicle turned onto Eilert at the same time. The car struck the child hard enough that he flew up in the air and landed in the middle of the street. The driver didn't stop. The child had cuts and abrasions and was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Police are looking for a 2000s model gray or silver Pontiac Grand Prix. It has an out-of- state license tag, possibly Pennsylvania.

Just after noon on Sunday, April 13, two men entered the Dillons at 6297 E. 13th. One man picked up a large amount of meat and some CDs, and started to walk out of the store. An employee confronted him about paying for the items and was punched in the face, losing consciousness. He was punched a second time as he lay on the floor. The loss was more than $400. The thief left with another man, and the pair drove off in a white Chevy Astro van. The employee had minor injuries.

The suspect is a bald black male, 5-foot-11, 260 pounds with brown eyes. He was wearing blue jeans, a white T-shirt and a ball cap. The man he was with also is black, 6-feet-tall with a large build. He was wearing jeans and a plaid shirt.

Just after 11 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, a woman driving east on Kellogg near I-135 saw the car behind her was traveling at a high rate of speed. Just before it hit her the driver swerved into the outside lane, rear-ended a car in that lane, spun out and struck the front passenger side of the woman’s car. It then landed on the shoulder where it struck the guard rail.

The woman pulled to the side of the road and called 911. She was going to check on the other driver but he got out of his car. He walked to her car and started punching it. He then made some violent motions toward her and returned to his car. He was able to start it and then rammed her car again, pushing it back onto Kellogg. He then sped away east on Kellogg.

He is a Hispanic male, 5 feet to 5-feet-6, wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. He was driving a ‘90s model silver Oldsmobile. It will have front end and front passenger side damage.

Just before 10 p.m. Friday, March 7, a party bus pulled into the North Rock Suites parking lot in the 3600 block of N. Rock Road. A large group of people was waiting for it. There were still a lot of people in the lot after the bus was filled. When no one else was allowed on a disturbance broke out and multiple shots were fired by an unknown person. No one was injured, but a neighboring business had several windows shot out. When police arrived and questioned the crowd, they found multiple shell casings.

The Wichita Police Department has several cold cases. Today they are asking for your help to solve a homicide that occurred in 1995. On March 13, 1995, Christopher Spivey was last seen leaving the McDonald’s at 122 N. Seneca where he was employed, late that night. Spivey did not show up for work the following day. The Wichita Police Department was sent to check Spivey’s welfare at 258 ½ N. Elizabeth, where he lived. They discovered the body of Christopher Spivey, who had been beaten to death.

The Wichita Police Department, Homicide Unit, is looking for any information that could help solve the case.

Sometime between 9 a.m. and noon on Thursday, March 6, someone smashed the glass to the backdoor on a residence in the 4300 block of east Mark Twain, near Derby. Taken from the residence was a large amount of jewelry, some antiques, and miscellaneous coins. One distinct coin was an 1861 Confederate 50 cent piece. Damage was estimated at $3500 and loss of nearly $12,000.

The loss is valued at more than $30,000. One suspect’s picture was captured on video. He is a younger Hispanic male, average build, short hair and light facial hair.

About 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, a man armed with a revolver robbed the O'Reilly Auto Parts store at 4818 E. Lincoln. He ordered the employees to give him money out of the register and then ran across the street to an apartment complex where he got into a dark blue or black vehicle. It was last seen driving through the complex. No one was injured.

He is black, in his early 20s, about 5-foot-7 and of average build. He was wearing black pants, a dark hoodie and gloves. He covered his face with a pair of blue boxer shorts.

Just before 5 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, a man driving a white SUV backed up to the Family Dollar at 3421 E. 47th St. S. He broke the glass in the store's front door to get inside, and he tried, but failed, to break into the ATM. He did grab some miscellaneous items.

He is white and of average height and build. He was wearing black shoes with white soles, dark pants, a dark jacket with a hood and orange gloves. He had tied a blue bandanna around his face. The older model white Ford Explorer he was driving has four doors and possibly a temporary tag.

They took a 14-foot double-axle trailer, an air compressor, a gas powered generator, miscellaneous hand tools, a drill and approximately 300 gallons of unleaded and diesel fuel. Loss is valued at more than $11,000.

Last October Crime Stoppers asked for help to identify the burglars who took a purse from a car in the Catholic Care Center parking lot. Since the theft there have been multiple forgeries using the stolen checks and credit cards. Some of the suspects' images were captured on video when they were using the stolen items. The Bel Aire Police Department hopes you can help identify the people pictured.

The first suspect is a large white woman of average height with dark, shoulder-length hair. She was wearing jeans and a red shirt, and was seen leaving in an older white vehicle. The second woman is even larger and also of average height. She was wearing shorts and a T-shirt.

The last suspect is a tall white man with a thin build. He was wearing jeans and a green T-shirt, and seen leaving in an older red SUV.

West St., then climbed onto the roof and cut a hole in it big enough to get inside A 2014 Kawasaki utility vehicle and a 2013 Honda 110cc dirt bike were taken. Tire tracks in the snow showed the Kawasaki was driven away west on Second Street.

Sometime between 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, and 5 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, one or several people broke into Cranmer Grass Farm, 17000 W. 61ST St.. N. They took a blue New Holland tractor, Model #TS115A, with wide turf tires; a yellow 22-foot flat-bed, triple-axel trailer; a blue Ingersol Rand 12 HP air compressor; an eight-lug spare wheel and tire; a blue 20-gallon propane tank; and a tractor battery. Total loss is $61,120.

Danielle Zimmerman was in the drive-through lane of the Taco Bell at 3725 E. Harry about 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec., 29, when she was struck with a brain aneurism. Her 2008 Nissan Frontier crashed into the order box. The driver in a silver car in front of her got out and went to Mrs. Zimmerman's Frontier. As employees reached Mrs. Zimmerman to help her, the silver vehicle drove away. Police discovered that Mrs. Zimmerman’s purse and wedding ring had been taken. She did not survive.

On Monday, Dec. 30, the Wichita Fire Department recovered Mrs. Zimmerman’s purse from the canal near Mt. Vernon and I-135. Her credit cards, a checkbook, cash, an iPhone and her wedding ring are still missing.
