Shortly before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, Sheriff’s deputies were called to a shooting in the 4600 block of South Brookhaven in Oaklawn. The victim, 23-year-old Welly Syakhasone, was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for your help. They are looking for up to three suspects seen leaving the area between 6:15 and 6:25 that morning in a dark-colored SUV.

A little after 9 p.m. Thursday, July 16, two men robbed the Cricket Wireless store at 4540 E. 13th St. One of them pulled a black handgun and demanded money from the employees. They also took electronics and ran south from the store. 


Both men are black, 18 to 20 years old, 5-foot-7 and about 150 pounds. The man with the gun was  wearing black shorts, a black hoodie and gray athletic shoes. The second man was wearing black shorts, a black and gray hoodie, and white athletic shoes with red and gray trim.

About 7:45 p.m. Thursday, July 1, the Red Sky Wireless AT&T Store at 538 S. Rock Rd. was robbed. When the suspect entered the store, he pointed a firearm at the employees and customers and forced them into a backroom. He took cash, personal items and multiple electronic products. The loss is estimated at more than $30,000.

The robber is a light-skinned black man in his 20s, 5-foot-8 and 160 pounds. He was wearing khaki shorts, a black shirt, a ball cap and sunglasses.

Just before 5 p.m. Friday, June 19, a man went into the Dollar General at 1919 E. Pawnee. The 31-year-old employee said he picked up a few items and brought them to the counter. When the clerk opened the cash register the robber lunged across the counter and took the money. He fled the store running east. .
The suspect is a black with a medium build and taller than average. He was wearing a gray T-shirt, jean shorts and black tennis shoes.
