How Does It Work?

If you have information about any felony crime or fugitive in Wichita or Sedgwick County, give Crime Stoppers the tip and you could be eligible for a cash reward up to $1000.  We will never ask your name and we do not take your phone number or have caller ID or call return.  You can call us 24 hours a day / 7 days a week.  IMPORTANT:  When calling Crime Stoppers, do not use a cordless phone or cell phone.  These are not secure lines and people with scanners could hear your call.

You may also send us a tip online.  The computer link redirects you to a site that is not affiliated with any law enforcement organization.  You will fill out a form with your tip information, supply a password for checking on the status of your tip, and the information is emailed to the Crime Stoppers Coordinator.  In order to guard your identity, any Internet addressing related to your location is removed from the tip information email sent to Crime Stoppers.  You can check the status of your tip by logging in to www.tipsubmit.com using the password you supplied.  You can also send additional information to Crime Stoppers about the tip from this site and check on messages sent by the Coordinator to you.

If you choose to contact us by text message, it goes through two separate servers that strip your phone number from the message prior to us receiving it.  Your phone number is encrypted and stored in the first server in Canada.  This allows us to send messages back to you.  To give us more information, all you need to do is reply to the auto-sent message you will receive when you send your original tip.

No matter how you choose to contact us, you will be given a code number for identification.  You will need to follow up on your tip with the Coordinator during daytime hours at (316) 268-4669 or by using the TipSubmit website if you gave us a tip via the internet.  If your information leads to an arrest, the Coordinator will advise the Board of Directors, who will vote on the amount of the reward.  When you call back, you will be notified of a location to pick up your cash without anybody knowing who you are.

Who is not eligible?

  • Officers & directors of Crime Stoppers and members of their immediate family

  • Commissioned law enforcement officer or members of their immediate family

  • Victims of the crime

  • Unimmunized, accused participants of the crime
